Mustang manufactures and sells the highest quality and most comfortable aftermarket motorcycle seats and accessories at affordable prices. The company was founded by Al Simmons, an engineer by qualification and training, in 1980. Mustang motorcycle seats are designed to provide maximum comfort to both the driver and the pillion rider, keeping in mind all-day riding needs. They are unique because each mustang motorcycle seat is manufactured by true craftsmen in the company’s facility in New England in the United States of America.

Mustang motorcycle seats consist of three essential parts. These are the base plate, the foam and the cover. Mustang constructs seats on a single or a two-piece baseplate. In the former case, the driver’s and passenger’s seats are built on one baseplate, while two different baseplates are used in the latter case. A two-piece baseplate construction enables the driver to remove the passenger seat for solo riding. The baseplates, the starting point of seat design, are made of either marine-grade fiberglass, finished with a high-gloss gel-coat, or black, epoxy powder-coated 16-gauge steel. In fact, the weight and balance that you feel when you pick up a Mustang motorcycle seat will indicate the quality difference. Most aftermarket seat manufactures use inferior quality plastic baseplates.  The baseplate that Mustang makes aligns the spine and allows the driver to maintain the correct riding angle to ensure that the driver or the passenger does not develop back stress.

The foam is an important component of the seat. Mustang uses the right shape and quality of foam to provide maximum comfort to the driver and the passenger. Once the baseplate is ready, the initial shape of the foam is hand sculpted by an experienced seat designer. The next step is to create a fiberglass mold of the same shape. Liquid foam solution is poured into the mold and it is then closed to enable the formation of the cushion. Mustang formulates its own proprietary controlled-density polyurethane foam for its motorcycle seats so that it is soft enough for comfort and sufficiently resilient to withstand all-day driving sessions. The quality of the foam can be tested by standing next to the seat and pressing it down. High quality foam made by Mustang will depress by about a third of its thickness. A uniqueness of Mustang motorcycle seats is that they get compressed and mold themselves to the driver’s body shape within the first 15 minutes of using it. The hundredth ride will be as comfortable as the first ride with Mustang’s motorcycle seats as the foam retains its shape and support for years.

The seat covers provided by motorcycle manufacturers are generally made of molded vinyl. These seat covers prevent water seepage, but do not provide a perfect fit along the contours of the foam mold. Therefore, any discrepancy will lead to wrinkles and bulges. Mustang motorcycle seat covers are individually hand-sewn to provide the perfect tight contours. However, stitched seat covers leave tiny holes. Water may seep through these holes, even if they are filled with a waxy substance. As foam used by Mustang is of superior quality, water will just drip through the hole provided in the baseplate and does not damage the foam. A word of caution here, wax should not be applied to the entire seat because it may just slide the driver off the seat when taking a sharp turn. Mustang uses highest quality expanded vinyl for seat covers. It gives the appearance of leather and is durable. It is also resistant to the elements of nature. Mustang’s seat covers do not fade and require practically no maintenance. Seat covers made of highest quality expanded vinyl are much better in quality compared to that used by the motorcycle manufacturers.

In order to cater to the needs of those riders who prefer decorative studs and Conchos on their seats, in contrast to some that like the seats to be plain, Mustang uses the best quality chrome-plated brass studs that do not rust and heavy die-cast top quality Conchos that are hand tied with genuine leather straps. Mustang also makes backrests for the driver and the passenger, fully adjustable and easily removed without tools, to ensure comfort and safety.

Now that you know why Mustang motorcycle seats are way ahead of other aftermarket seat manufacturers in terms of quality, you will appreciate that riding ceases to be a pleasurable activity if the motorcycle seats are not properly designed. Further, if you are not happy with the current seat in your motorcycle, it is a good idea to replace it immediately to have a great riding experience.

                               100-011 8 cell
Lithium motorcycle batteries have now entered the field of motor sports. The two prominent batteries in the market are:
Shorai motorcycle batteries and Ballistic motorcycle batteries. In a short span of time they have created very loyal customer base in the market. Although both batteries are lithium based, there are some features which make batteries different from each other. Before making a judgment about which one is better over the other, it is good to take a look at their characteristic features.

Shorai lithium motorcycle batteries are from Japan. The battery is very compact, and up to half the size of lead-acid batteries. Weight of the battery is said to be 80% less than stock batteries. With its advanced lithium based technology, Shorai says its LFX series batteries have a longer life as compared to other lithium batteries. The battery can last up to one year without maintenance.  Shorai batteries have a faster recharge with a two to four times extended service life than lead-acid batteries. It has a very low self- discharge and so the battery will not discharge even if it left unused over a long period of time. The shorai lithium motorcycle battery is housed in military spec carbon fiber composite case. It’s free from acids and poisonous gases. Since the battery is environment friendly, it could be discharged and disposed of after use. These batteries are available in either 6 or 12 volt models and works in motorcycles, ATV’s, and dirt bikes.

A distinctive advantage Shorai lithium motorcycle batteries have is that they are manufactured from LFX prismatic cells, which is unique and different from power tools cells; the basic component of other lithium motorcycle  batteries. This allows batteries to be freely designed and manufactured in accordance with the size of the battery cases. Although power tools cells can crank a bike much faster, it can severely affect the cranking performance of the bike in the long run. They come with a two year warranty. Also all Shorai batteries come with a self-adhesive foam sheet which holds battery firmly in the compartment.

Ballistic evo2 motorcycle batteries are manufactured with the latest lithium ferrous energy storage technology. The battery is entirely produced in United States. Despite its compact size, it generates high energy during its performance. It is 80% smaller and 10lbs lighter than the lead-acid battery. Since the battery contains no liquids it can be mounted in any direction. It performs even in extreme weather conditions ranging from 18-60 degree Celsius. Battery is water resistant, non toxic and recyclable. Due to very low self discharge (only 10%) it retains charge even when battery is not in use. Even after a long static state the vehicle can be cranked successfully without a trickle charger. The Battery runs on minimum maintenance and has two times the service life of a normal acid- lead battery. The batteries are covered under industry leading warranty of three years. Ballistic batteries are a universal fit and come in only 5 different sizes that covers everything. They do come with foam to take up the left over space in the battery box.

Despite the differences both batteries have, they have been widely accepted around the world. Emerging reviews from customers around the world confirms this. Many feel that the high price of the battery compensates for the advanced feature it brings in.

Ballistic lithium motorcycle batteries are the newest technology in the motorcycle battery arena. Ballistic uses the state of the art lithium ferrous storage technology. This technology provides you with a lighter weight, higher energy producing motorcycle battery. What can be better then more energy and lighter weight and in most conditions a longer service life for your motorcycle. This is in comparison to the lead acid batteries on the market today.

The Ballistic batteries are designed, developed and produced in the USA. They come with a industry leading 3 year limited warranty. If the battery does go bad in the 3 year period there is a pro rate for replacement. Check the ballistic warranty page for more details.

The lithium ferrous is a completely dry technology so the batteries can be mounted in any direction. The batteries are smaller then the stock size, so foam padding is provided to take up the space in your battery box. There are five different sizes from the smallest 4 cell battery for most scooters to the 16 cell for the large cruisers and touring motorcycles. All come fully charged ready to install. There are non-toxic and recyclable.

There any many advantages to the new lithium based batteries. The top 3 would weight savings, twice as long service life and the 3 year warranty. The really only downside is the price. Most are twice the price of a lead acid battery but with the added service life, weight savings and environmental friendly technology you cannot go wrong with the new Ballistic batteries.
